  The boom in U.S. oil and gas production has brought huge economic opportunities for the country

and for the chemical industry. But it has also brought close scrutiny of the chemicals used in

processes such as hydraulic fracturing, also known as fracking. Between the economic hype and

environmental backlash is the story of how chemicals are chosen and marketed for this industry.
